Terms of Use

Effective date: 20 June 2026

These terms govern your use of Animal AI (“the app”), an independent app developed by Massimiliano Merlo, an individual developer based in Italy. By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.

1. What Animal AI does

Animal AI uses artificial intelligence to identify animals from photographs and presents species profiles, a confidence score and a collectible rarity card for each find. It is an educational and entertainment tool, not a scientific, veterinary or safety instrument.

2. Accuracy & wildlife-safety disclaimer

AI identification is not guaranteed to be correct. Results can be wrong, incomplete or uncertain — that’s why the app shows a confidence score and alternatives. Never make a safety, health, dietary or handling decision based on the app. Do not approach, touch, capture or feed a wild animal, and do not eat or avoid anything, on the basis of an identification. Some animals are dangerous, venomous or protected. For any decision where being wrong could cause harm, consult a qualified professional or local authority.

3. Free scans & subscriptions

4. Acceptable use

Use the app lawfully. Don’t attempt to reverse engineer, disrupt, overload or abuse the service or its providers, and don’t use it to break any applicable wildlife, privacy or other law.

5. Intellectual property

The app, its design, branding and content are owned by the developer and protected by law. These terms grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app; they don’t transfer any ownership to you.

6. “As is”

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of identifications, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any harm arising from reliance on an identification. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Italy. Any dispute falls under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Genoa, Italy, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.

9. Changes

We may update these terms as the app evolves. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
